Well, hello. It has been a few years. A lot has changed. Maybe one day I will write about it, but for now, I want to talk about this new season.
I closed the chapter on my life in Seattle and moved to Wisconsin with my kind and wonderful husband. This November will mark one year since we moved out here. Seattle blessed me with wonderful mild weather year-round, and now Wisconsin is teaching me to appreciate the beauty of all four seasons again.
The past weekend was my husband’s birthday. He had a busy month, so we decided to get away and unplug for a few days. No phones, no TV, no noise.
We stayed in a little cabin near the Mississippi River, and it was our first time exploring our new state.
We spent the weekend reading books, journaling, sitting outside and enjoying the mid-west summer. It was so peaceful and it felt nice to unplug.
My husband loves to cook and he made simple food; steak, chicken and veggies. I wonder when our cooking ingredients got so complicated? Sometimes, simple ingredients, especially when coated in butter, are all we really need. 😊
Our world is filled with so much noise, so much stimulation, that it was nice to be still and present, and even to feel a little bored again.
